If you suspect that your computer is infected and that your antivirus software has been compromised (or its database is not updated), get an online scan. An online scan will ensure that the scanner program is not itself infected, and that the database is the most current.
Try Symantec and Trend Micro’s sites. They offer free online scanning and cleaning.
